Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the book signing/launch for the Design for Obama book in which our poster was published. It was an honor to meet Spike Lee, Steven Heller, and Aaron Perry-Zucker, and to feel a part of something so big and important. Not to mention, the book is STUNNING. I was speaking on a design panel at the Smith Women in Design (SWiD) conference last weekend, discussing the benefits of doing a project like this. So here’s anxiously anticipated cover for the soon to be released, Design for Obama: Posters for Change, A Grassroots Anthology that our Probama Nation poster will be a part of. We know this is next to impossible, but just in case you may have possibly, oddly, freakishly, forgotten our poster, here’s a refresher: It was campaigns like Design for Obama that contributed to Obama’s road to the White House being so advertorially historical. The Obama campaign was recently awarded top prizes by The Cannes for its momentous, groundbreaking advertising and marketing campaign.

Dear Friends, We created this poster for Design/ers for Obama. Design/ers for Obama was created when Design Observer essentially asked the question, “how can graphic designers best support Barack Obama?” Our answer ended up extending the question to cover visual communicators at all levels. In addition to supporting Obama for America we jumped at the opportunity to bring the spirit of grassroots style organizing and collaboration to poster design which, to us, meant not only forming communal bonds but sharing the fruits of our efforts equally and in such a way that anyone can enjoy and benefit from (because most of us do not own our own printing presses).
